As such, the two new chips from AMD have the potential to give automotive designers a major boost in resources for a variety of applications.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\">To learn more about the two new chips, we sat down with AMD\u2019s Senior Automotive Marketing Director,<span style=\"color: #ff7a45;\"> Wayne Lyons<\/span>, Senior Automotive Product and Marketing Manager, <span style=\"color: #ff7a45;\">Rehan Tahir<\/span>, and Senior Director of Embedded Product Marketing, <span style=\"color: #ff7a45;\">Amey Deosthali<\/span> to discuss how the latest AMD devices could shake up the automotive industry.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\"><strong>Automotive AI SoCs<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\">First up, AMD has introduced the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flywing-tech.com\/blog\/amd-reveals-adaptive-socs-with-rf-conversion-and-80-tops-dsp\/\">Versal AI Edge XA line of adaptive SoCs<\/a>, purpose built to provide a boost to automotive signal processing and sensor fusion that only AI can provide. Within the <span style=\"color: #ff7a45;\">Versal AI Edge XA <\/span>series, dedicated AI engines provide optimization potential for many applications including forward cameras or in-cabin driver monitoring in a single auto-qualified device.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\">The AI engines within the adaptive SoCs are capable of handling many different AI models including classification or feature tracking. The portfolio includes options ranging from 20k to 521k look-up tables, and AI performance from 5 TOPS to 171 TOPS<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.xilinx.com\/v\/u\/en-US\/ds951-xa-versal-overview\" target=\"\">.<\/a> Furthermore, the scalability within the adaptive SoCs allow designers to port designs to hardware with an appropriate amount of processing power. While AI performance and hardware acceleration is certainly a benefit for many applications, <span style=\"color: #ff7a45;\">the V2000A processor<\/span> compliments the application-specific nature of the Versal AI series by providing a high-performance processor to enable new automotive features.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/file.flywing-tech.com\/res\/article\/202406071054165416ef1adc7d6d2d0c18f154178da0f81faab5806.png\" alt=\"\" data-href=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>The V2000A provides new processing power to support more innovation in-cabin, including infotainment, driver assistance, and data visualization.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\">This new processing power comes at a welcome time as more manufacturers move away from distributed processing. \u201cWe see OEMs pretty aggressively moving towards centralized architectures and having a move towards reducing the ECUs,\u201d says Amey Deosthali. \u201cWhat that is doing is driving new chip architecture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\">Containing CPU and GPU in one, the V2000A makes use of AMD\u2019s Zen2 cores and 7 nm process technology to bring a \u201cPC-like\u201d <span style=\"color: #ff7a45;\">experience to automobiles<\/span>. Applications such as infotainment, digital cockpit, and high-level sensing are expected to benefit from the new embedded processing power and digital graphics rendering.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\"><strong>Synergistic Innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: start;\">This week at CES, <span style=\"color: #ff7a45;\">AMD is showing<\/span> both new devices, as well as demonstrating how they can work together in a system.
